My name is Rickey Howard.  I was born and raised in the state of Georgia.  As a child my friends and I would regularly attend churches throughout the town by walking, biking, or riding on church busses.  Looking back, I am very grateful for the opportunities that I had to hear the Gospel of Jesus Christ preached.  When I was 15 years old, I began thinking about my eternity.  I began to realize that just going to church did not grant me eternal life.  I began to ponder what would happen if I were to die; would I go to Heaven?  Would I go to hell?  One Sunday evening, after the preaching, I went to the pastor of that church, and he showed me through God’s Word how I could be born-again and know that I have eternal life through faith in Jesus Christ.

My wonderful wife, April, and I were married on March 3, 2007.  The Lord has blessed us with two amazing boys: Cash and Carter.  We are a very close family and love spending quality time together.

After high school I began working in utility construction.  For 17 years I worked as a general laborer, pipe layer, equipment operator and eventually as a crew foreman.  I am an excavator operator by trade. 

As I read and studied the Bible, Jesus’ command to “preach the Gospel to every creature” began to take root in my heart.  I knew that there was something more for me to do.  Thankfully, the Lord had placed some great people in my life to help guide me during this time.  Through the mentorship of my Pastor and my brother-in-law, I surrendered my life to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  That surrender was not just to preach, but to take the message of the Gospel to a place that did not have the overwhelming opportunities to hear the Gospel as I did in North Georgia.  To prepare, I attended North Georgia Baptist College and began learning the ministry under the leadership of my pastor.  After several years of serving at our home church, my family and I began the process of moving to St. George, Utah to start Solid Rock Baptist Church.
