What is the Bible?
2 Timothy 3:16 ” All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.”
Previously, we saw that God Himself is the author of the Bible. Now we will consider what the Bible is.
Let’s imagine that you had just purchased a cabinet for your home. You bring it in the house and you have to assemble it. The first thing you will do is locate the assembly instructions (unless you’re a prideful man!). And unless you want a wobbly cabinet, you will fully follow those instructions. Page by page, step by step, you complete the assembly of your new cabinet. It is strong, sturdy and serves its purpose.
the Bible is our instruction manual. The Creator of all things, the Living God, has given us the instruction manual for our lives. He gave us His Words in order for us to know Him, for us to know His redemptive plan for all of mankind, and for us to know how we should conduct our lives.
We are building something much more delicate and meaningful than a cabinet, we are building our entire existence. Why is it that we put so much effort and energy into how we assemble temporary things but so little is given to how we build our lives? Would you consider your life? And determine to fully follow the instruction manual given by the Creator and build a strong and sturdy life upon God’s Word.
